It was a few days before Christmas and I had been feeling rather nauseous the past couple of days.  I had also been a few weeks late on that beautiful time of the month.  Back up a few months, the end of September, we decided to stop birth control and wait to see what happens.  So on December 23rd, I told Rygh that we should probably buy a pregnancy test!  We bought six!  We felt like kids buying something we weren't suppose to be getting! We even went through the self check out and snuck out of the store. 

I got home and did the test.  Rygh was out feeding the cows.  Well, three minutes later, it said pregnant! All I could think was oh my gosh, thank you lord for this gift!  I ran out to Rygh on the tractor and told him! We are so excited!  

I went back inside and called to make an appointment with my doctor!  My first appointment was January 8th!  

 January 4th we hung out with my family at the cotton bowl.  we had a great time.  the morning sickness however really sank in the next day, but We managed to keep it a secret. 

   I got the full meal deal check up, blood work, and our first look at our peanut on january 8th! I held it together through the appointment.  It was crazy to see this being inside of me!  Well, I didn't quite remember the date of my last period, so they wanted me to come back next week for a dating ultrasound. 

January 16th was my next appointment for my ultrasound and to meet with my doctor.  The ultrasound told us that I was about 8 weeks along!  Our official due date is August 23, 2014!   They told us everything was looking good with the baby.  My blood work came back and my tsh was on the low side so I had to go back for some more blood work!

Well, since my doctor's appointment I have been going to bed at 7 almost every night, feeling nauseous all day, and trying to eat at least one good meal a day! 

Let me just say, morning sickness is no fun and it is just not in the morning! I have thrown up before work, after work, after eating one bite, after eating a full meal, and lots of times in between!  I wish I could figure out how to throw up with out it going through my nose!! That has been the absolute worst!  I have become a big fan of saline nasal spray and zofran!   I am down to 121 pounds from 134 pounds.  Praying to feel better soon!

I do have to give a little shout out to Rygh!  He has been the absolute best! Every time I think I want something to eat Rygh will make it for me or go and get it!  He brings me cold washcloths when I'm throwing up. He has allowed me to do little housework this month.  I vacuumed the house last week and was wiped the rest of the day! He has left me notes of encouragement on my mirror.  He has bundled me up in blankets when I'm cold and turned on the fan and ac when I'm hot.  He has been the best and I am so lucky.

Also, buster knows something is up.  He will not leave my side.  He used to lay beside me in my chair but lately has been laying on my lap and my tummy.  

I will say the first trimester has been pretty emotional.  After lots of throw up, I have been praying for The Lord to give me strength and to please take away this sickness.  I have spent a little time crying and praying for strength which is definitely "my word" for this time in my life!  I am so excited and terrified all at the same time. The Lord has entrusted us this gift and I just want to give thanks and be grateful for this gift.  Since, we haven't told anyone except our trainer Barry(Rygh can't lie) and our friends ben and Alex, it has been a bit lonely.  Rygh can't relate to this roller coaster I am on currently so I have leaned on The Lord which I can say has been awesome.  He gives constant reminders that things are going to be ok with HIM. 

We are very excited for Valentine's Day because our secret is finally going to be out!  Thank the good Lord! 

December 24th!

8 weeks

Icepocalypse 2013

Thursday evening a little ice storm rolled into North Texas! I of course was on call at the hospital.  Thankfully we only worked till about 1930. I drove over to my friends house to spend the night.  It was sleeting but not too bad at the time.   I woke up about 530 to drive back to Stephenville.   I drove about 25 mph between Granbury and home.  It took about an hour and a half but I made it safely!  The roads were pretty icy.  

I got home made Rygh and me breakfast and then he went out to feed the cows.   Pretty much the past three days I have been cooking and cleaning.  We had a pretty yummy beef stew which included pinto beans, tomatoes, potatoes, rice, and a ranch packet for seasoning.  It's been pretty good!  Friday evening we braved the roads and went to our Sunday School class party.  It was a lot of fun.  I made little carrot cakes which were the bomb.  We learned a new game called heads up. It's an app on the ipad. Needless to say Rygh and I have been playing it ever since. 

Saturday, we ventured out to get my a new phone! I had my iPhone for 3 and a half years which is the longest I've ever had a phone! I was a little sad to pay with it but I got a Samsung note and I love it!  It has a great camera!  We also went to heb and Montana for lunch.  Sadly, the kitchen pipes froze!  We spent the afternoon watching college football.  We are pretty excited for Baylor and a little sad MIZZOU lost!  We ended the night eating my beef stew and carrot cake.

Sunday, church was canceled. I made bacon, eggs, and grapefruit for breakfast. We did a little sledding and had a lot of fun.  We had toasted sandwiches and stew for lunch.  I made a chocolate pie for dinner and sausage and Potatoe casserole for dinner. Rygh said it tastes just like his mom's!

I have Monday off so hopefully more of the ice will melt!  We originally planned to go to Kansas City this weekend to celebrate my cousin Heather's wedding but because of the ice we stayed home. It's been nice spending a long weekend at home with Rygh and the dogs.   Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Things I've Learned

Well, Rygh and I have been married for almost a year and a half.  I thought I should share some things I've learned in this short time! 

* there is a correct way to put the toilet paper on the roll.

* there is also a proper way to fold towels.. I still have not mastered this skill.

* there is also a proper way to load the dishwasher.  I like to make it a puzzle and see how much I can get in it...

* Rygh's clothes must be washed in warm water.

* when backing out of the driveway, one must use their mirrors instead of turning around and looking back.  For some reason it really annoys Rygh that I don't use my mirrors like he does. 

* Rygh will always ask me if I left him some hot water for his shower, the answer is always yes! 

* we also might run to the shower to get the first shower.

* toothpaste.. We must each have our own because we use different techniques to get the paste on the brush. 

* we must always have salt in the house... I could care less about salt.  Also, someone filled my little sugar jar with salt and I lovingly poured salt all over some blueberries one morning = ruined.  I will find out who did this and get you.

* Rygh loves Buster now.  It was touch and go in the beginning but now they are BFFs! 

* if the dishwasher is dirty, Rygh will put his dirty dishes in the sink.  Because it's so hard to open the dishwasher and put the dish in it. 

* we must always have a pitcher of tea in the fridge.

 * Rygh is an excellent bug slayer.  All I have to do is say Rygh on repeat and he comes and takes care of the intruder! 

As I learn to be a better wife, I will fill you in on other MUSTS!

A little update.... Rygh and I have been doing well! I have been busy working in preop at the hospital and Rygh has been busy hay baling.  Rygh and I are going to be helping out with AWANAS at church. We are still working out with Camp Gladiator. Rygh made the Camp Gladiator finals in Austin next weekend! It should be quite the challenge as they are expecting to do a 5k with a 50 pound sand bag on their backs!  We are headed to College Station for my best friend's sister's wedding and then off to Brady for Little Miss Gracen Kate's first birthday!  We have a busy month ahead! The last goodbye's the hardest one to say...

I have been waiting for June 1st for awhile.  Well, it finally came! We headed to San Antonio Friday night for a weekend with my parents. We had dinner Friday night at Landry's on the RiverWalk.  It was great! Boiled shrimp, wedge salad, and salmon! We even took home a slice of key lime pie for dessert. The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel and then my mom and I got our hair done.  We had Mexican food and margaritas on the RiverWalk at Acenar.  It was great!

Now, the real reason for this post.....Saturday night it was time to see the King, King George. We walked over to the AlamoDome for the concert.  Martina McBride opened followed by Miranda Lambert. About nine o'clock George took the stage.  He was great! He played his favorite songs, some oldies, and some new hits. He honored three wounded military men by giving them a new home, groceries for a year, a job, and a big screen tv.  It was amazing to hear 70,000 people cheer USA USA USA for these wounded warriors.  They also awarded a Medal of Honor recipient for his act of valor while he was in Afghanistan. 

George played for about two and a half hours. It was likes big sing a long with 70,000 people! By the way, George made history last night by having that many people at his show!  It was packed and it was filled with cheers and clapping. He ended the night with "the cowboy rides away."  George is such a class act and it was great to see him on his last stop of his last tour!

A little change...

So yesterday, I decided to make a change.  I have had long hair for a long time.  I have always wanted to donate my hair and figured why not now.  Generally, my mother always talks me out of cutting my hair but yesterday she was all for it. So, I cut off a whooping 12 inches!  I am going to donate it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths because they will make the hair into a wig for a cancer patient.  Locks of Love makes wigs for kids suffering from alopecia.   Both are great causes and need people to donate!  

Here's a little info...

1.  Donation has to be a minimum of 8 inches and there is no maximum.

2. Hair must be secured in a ponytail and then cut.

3. Hair that is excessively colored or bleached cannot be used.

4. Curly hair can be used.

5. Any hair stylists can do it. All they need to do is cut off the ponytail and then you mail your ponytail to the organization of your choice!
